Summary

This GPS receiver system is equipped with a whopping 220 channels to receive signals that will allow you to track virtually every positioning signal from every “in view” satellite that is in orbit now or in the forseeable future, whether being broadcast from the United States GPS system, the Russian GLONASS system, or (when available and permitted) the Galileo “A” and “B” systems. The advantage to this is straightforward; more posistioning signals equals more opportunities to gain an initiliazation that will result in a survey quality position. The system has been exhaustively tested and statistically proven to gain a true “non rogue” initialization 99.9% of the time. All of these things taken together improve your ability to work in hostile GPS environments such as near buildings, pit mine high walls, tree foliage, and so on.

The built-in UHF radios are both transmit and receive radios. You can use either one for the base when conducting RTK surveys. They can be set to transmit at 1/2 Watt or 1 Watt. The 1/2 Watt setting is great for small site work as it will extend your hours of operation considerably. The higher power 1 Watt setting provides for those occaisions that you need to measure long distances. Experience has shown that you can reach out about 4-1/2 miles if there are no, or only only limited, obstructions between the base and the rover. Hilltop to hilltop is a good way to think about that. For extremely long range a 35 Watt radio is available.

The very broad frequency range and 12-1/2KHz channel spacing of the radios insure that the system can be configured to consistently and reliabily receive corrections from the base regardless of surrounding extraneous RF signals from other transmitters.

The system is completely wireless and is equipped with Bluetooth so that it can communicate with a Bluetooth capable data collector.

The fact that the receivers can manage virtually every correction format in the industry insures that you will be able to communicate with wide area VRS systems or stand-alone distant base stations, by the use of your personal portable “Hot Spot” or data capable “Smart” cell phone.

With 55MB of unreserved memory to store data you can conduct static or OPUS missions at whatever recording rate you choose without fear of filling up the memory. Even a one second rate won’t come close to filling up if you run all day long.
